Slight delay

Put the birthday celebrations on hold, we had a 3 hour delay out of JFK.  They had to replace the battery. Seriously.  We learned all about how a plane battery is not like a car battery.  There is a whole charging procedure.  It takes 75 mins.  The pilot gave us the play by play.  He became increasingly annoyed as we sat there at the gate.  Our favorite comment was [wise-ass voice] "The plane was sitting here all day and I sure am glad they checked the battery right before we were going to leave."  Anyway, we missed our connection but American rebooked us on a slightly later flight before we were even wheels up at JFK.

As we were sitting there waiting, Butch said "I guess we'll have a birthday drink at Heathrow." To which I replied "It's still better than that birthday when I drove Mom to a funeral in the Bronx."  The guy sitting next to us started to laugh and said if that's your bar for a successful birthday then you'll never be disappointed.

5 out of my last 6 flights have been delayed.  Things have got to get better soon.

So here we sit with our OJs and Grey Goose in the club at Heathrow waiting for the celebration to begin.
